But that just plays into his hands, he wants to die. He will die eventually we all do but we should play these people at their own game, he should be hung drawn and quartered in public
Interesting to see photos of this in the Sun online who showed paramedics trying to save the life of the knife man / vehicle driver who has killed about 3 people and injured many more.
My question - why do they bother? just let him bleed to death or chuck him off the bridge into the river as he did to another innocent passer by.
OK it may create a martyr but that's OK by me.
But that just plays into his hands, he wants to die. He will die eventually we all do but we should play these people at their own game, he should be hung drawn and quartered in public
They would be happily to let the terrorist die but the fact is,that they would like to keep him alive to get answers from him, as to why he commited the terrible act? How many was involved along with him? If he was associated with ISIS? Finally to help them, with other plots down the line, that may become useful.
Bring back the death penalty. And whole life tariffs. Create a prison like Super Max.
Of course we can't prevent a reoccurrence especially when someone wants to die in a blaze of pubilicity. But we can minimise it and the death penalty and life sentences does play into the minds of killers and their supporters.
Maybe keep him alive but kill his family one by one weekly before his eyes so he can experience the feelings that the family of his innocent victims are now going through.
Then take him out. Its a very root and branch Maoist solution as used by Pol Pot, but just might be a disincentive.
That'd do it!
Just have them sat down in Mels warehouse, so he can give them a 3 year contract to manage our lot.... he wont want to go back to his games then, he'll be begging for the padded cell.
"his games" Is that what you think killing several people is: a game? Your as big a ****wit as the other one.
No Swale this is the common misconception with the majority of the public.
What's the point of the death penalty for suicide bombers? These people are prepared to die anyway.
Actually no, in my line of work, I've met and spoken with a lot of people in law enforcement and the area of criminal justice.
While there are some hell bent on suicide, a large number do it on impulse knowing they might not die if they're caught after unleashing their terror.
And then there's those who are just as culpable by assisting and directing the attack while finding or convincing some dumb fool to do the deed. But they know they're not in danger of dying and will be released after say 10 to 20 years.
An example would be sole Mumbai attacker who was caught. Or Dzokar (sp) the youthful attacker in Boston. Neither was/is resigned to dying.
Remember this is not Palestine, where many young men are somehow convinced that there's no hope for them and have been pushed into a corner. Hence they're prepared to inflict terror against a heavily armed adversary.
This is Britain (or continental Europe), where there's huge opportunities to better themselves and their families. And even if they're caught, their families are largely untouched by the law.
Capital punishment and whole life tariffs cannot deter every possible attacker. But it does deter some and gives a lot of pause and thought to others planning or involved.
And don't forget, it's also about a punishment that befits the crime.
