Mason Bennett seems back in the frame.... Hanson only went on loan didnt he? Vernam and Elsnik are close to match day squad as well?
...okay, now that Roger's broken the silence I'll give this a try. Max Lowe seems to have great potential. Callum Guy is apparently getting good reports from Port Vale and now that Shackell is even more unavailable than usual I'd like to see Rawson brought back and given a go playing at the same level he was at last season with Rotherham. Other than that, never understood the logic of allowing Hanson to go to Wigan. He's been given a raw deal imo...used at fullback, which he really isn't suited to and then sent out to make way for a loan player who really isn't equipped to play the role Hanson is most suited to...bonkers.
Anyone else on the cusp? Others will know more...thoughts and recommendations?

Yeah, Hanson is only on loan but it's an opportunity lost imo. Despite Nugent trying to make it sound as if there's still something to play for we can only use the next couple of months to experiment and find out about players...like to see Rawson and Hanson given a chance in their best positions but I have no idea of the terms of their loans. Coventry, certainly, and Wigan both look doomed anyway.
I'm sure we can bring a few through to patch some gaps, but we don't really produce many that have real quality. Since the turn of the millennium, how many premier league quality players have come through? Huddlestone & Hendrick is all I can think of.
I know the sentiment of bringing through a young local lad appeals to many, but more often than not they turn out very average for us. It's ok if you're plying for mid table, but with higher aspiration, it's hard to see where we're going to bring through any true quality.
We need a top quality scout, that can find some hidden gems in the world. We not really producing breakout stars, like our fellow neighbour,Forest are doing and that's really troubling, considering youth is where the heart of the club lies. We have also put a lot of money into expanding,Moor Farm and it's facilities and what is the need of all that,if we haven't got the talent to make it all worth while.
Forest stay up this season I can see them having another Billy Davies type bounce and making the playoffs next season, don't forget they only stayed up by a point in Billy Davies's first few months, then went onto to make the playoffs with a team built around youth, which is what their doing now.
We need to make sure we're ready to rumble next season,, in some cases Rowett will be perfect for a lot of our team imo,, has a siege mentality and deflects a lot of the blame elsewhere when its going wrong, takes on the weight when its not going so well. His first after match interview was a sign of things to come,, his digs at Florest were quite funny I thought.
With Rotherham already sealed their fate of relegation to League 1, there is only two spaces left to fill and it's going to be close,to who goes down and who stays up. Wigan look likely to take up the 1st spot,so the final spot will go down to the wire between Wolves, Ipswich, Birmingham, Bristol City, Forest, Burton and Blackburn as the season, heads into the final 8 games.
It's a while ago now Adi, but Ian Evatt was another to escape the net. Always looked at least as good as many who've succeeeded him for me and I think I remember him playing a major part in Blackpool's Premiership adventure...possibly in the same side as Charlie Adams and Ince. You never know if you don't try them and now seems the perfect opportunity.
I agree.
If we're going to play average multi-million pound flops, then why not give a youngster a go, there's nothing to lose between now and May, and they might do better. I just wish that all the money we invested in experienced players, actually brought in anyone worthwhile.
