Senial moment. We used to cycle to Udny St and have a kick aboot. For some reason I thought it was Pitmedden park. Udny must be the guts of 10 miles fae me. 20 miles on the journey before I even start on the railway.

Stupies definitely put the idea in my heid now.

Vintage, how far would you reckon Udny St to Ellon is(so I can stop for a power up rowie at my folks which is right next to the railway)? And Ellon to the Gat

5 and 7 miles respectively according to the route cards ^^^^^

Or, 8 km and 11km respectively to annoy the EU Leave gypes.

Addendum: If you go Meldrum to Pitmedden, the turn-off for Udny Station's only about 2.5 miles beyond Pitmedden on the B999.

When I first moved up here my then-employer was doing a charity cycle run from Duthie Park to Ballater and back and one of the guys convinced me to go along by lending me a bike (and a good one at that).

At that point I hadn't cycled for at least 10 years. I also hadn't figured out that Ballater was not where I thought it was - turns out I was thinking we were only going to Banchory.

What an arse I had on me for the next week

    A hybrid, probably.

    Something like this:

but best to go into a Proper Mannies' bike shop* and tell the staff your requireoments.

I use EBC, but there's a decent shop in Inverurie and three or four ithers in toon.

    *ie nae Halfords or Tesco

Worth considering is the fact that the Edinburgh Bike Co-operative has just that participative profit-sharing business model as its modus operandi, and that its MD is a fervent Red and occasional poster on this site.

That's why they get my business.

COYR, in more than one way.
