A welcome win for Charlton over Southend on Saturday dedicated in memory of PC Keith Palmer a die hard Charlton fan who was so tragically killed in a senseless terrorist attack by a low life.
Ricky Holmes scored on 6 minutes for the Add1cks, however Southend soon got back into the game as John White headed home for them on 11 minutes.
Charlton's second goal came as Jake Forster-Caskey put Southend defender Thompson under enough pressure to divert the ball into the back of the net for an own goal on 74 minutes.
It was backs to the wall stuff at the end but Charlton held on for a win to take them further away from the relegation places.
