    London marathon

Good luck to any fellow posters or folk that just look in .
Let us know how you get on.

Liz McColgan is doing Stirling marathon (i think that's in June)
She's saying that she'd be happy with 3hr20min. Now with the training she is doing i think she may just break 3 hours i also think deep down that's her target .
But you never know on the day.
There's also the Aberdeen 10k next month too good luck with that as well.

Liz used to run similar times on the road as my running mates and myself but i was more a hill runner .

Never been beaten by this world class hill runner in any hill race Angela Mudge.

Never done one the reason is the training involved anything from 75-100 miles per week to do the marathon at the best of your ability.

50 miles was good for me 60 max.
Most marathon runners i know aren't running anymore.

    My times were
    1ml in 4_15.

15 mins for 5k just couldn't break into the 19 mins barrier not for the lack of trying.

20 mins for 4miles on a number of occasions.

10ks 32min. But didn't do enough of them done 31 in training with my mates when got really fit 1995.

10 miles again when really fit 51mins 30 sec but mostly 53 mins-55 again in training with a measured course an old race around Brig of Don and Dyce ferranti 10 miler race course.
But i do hold some records in the hill racing scene and won quite a few over the years .
Hill running was really my thing. Hence Scottish vest..

Edit to say thanks for asking Pacman right I'm away to put my trumpet away now

Buc, when you say the marathon runners you knew no longer run do you mean they are physically fecked because of the miles they've done?
Often thought it looks bad for the old joints long term.

Not going to mention names scobie of
    3 with heart problems

    6 with joint problems
Of course this could have happened anyway with these lads an lassies .

But most I know that did anything up to half marathons they are still running today to some degree.
The lads I've ran with since the 80s we are indeed still meeting up for a run.
But our milage has nearly halved to around 30 miles per week .
