Famous old club Third Lanark played their final home game at Cathkin Park with a 3 - 3 draw against Queen of the South. Dumfries (Troqueer) welder Brian McMurdo went into the history books as the last player to score a goal at
the famous old Glasgow ground. Brian, in fact, scored 2 in the second half as Queens came back from 3 - 1 down at the interval. Third Lanark later that week played their last - ever game at Dumbarton and were beaten 5 - 1 by the Sons - a young Drew Busby later a Queens player / manager in 1982 - 84 scored their final goal of a club founded in 1890.

Hadn't realised until earlier how close Cathkin Park was to Hampden . Think we're going to pay it a visit before the Scotland v England game on June 10th
