Final game of the 2016-17 league campaign.

After the weekends matches and Queens commendable draw away to Falkirk we are down to a final game shootout at Palmerston next Saturday. Not only is the fifth place position up for grabs but Dobbie can also finish the season as the top scorer in the Championship. There can only be one winner of the player of the season as without his goals we would be surely ensconced in the relegation battle.
I am sure that there will be a good number of Dunfermline supporters coming to Palmerston for the game so let's have a decent and vocal home support as well to make it an occasion cheering on the South. A fifth place will financially help the manager with the recruitment required to make us more competitive for next season.
    Mon the South.

Great post Spike . At least there's something to play for . Can't remember exactly the financial figures but it's a decent figure finishing 5th to 6th . Would love Dobbie to beat Cummings for top goal scorer . I still think there's fans out there who don't appreciate how lucky we are to have him at Palmerston

    Mon the South

    PS - who's the referee ?

Excellent post Spike AND please keep up with the referee nominations Mr Albertz - personally don't care BUT glad someone is keeping those that do care "In the know"!!
Is it too soon to discuss next year's expectations? Fixture List announced on Friday 23rd June with HOPEFULLY 4 alternative venues - Livi return, away weekends to Inverness (hoo-bleedin'-ray!!!!) AND........ hopefully Hamilton (easy commute PLUS no real threat for a real promotion push) and Airdrie (hate the town BUT as Hamilton - easy commute and bonus of seeing Ian Russell again!). Any other thoughts...............................OR am I getting ahead of myself?

Will be good to see who stays and who leaves Palmerston and to see what Naysmith does next season with a full pre season with the squad and what the club's ambitions are. I don't see the club starting as they have done this season with 18 points and sitting in first, although I would prefer a more consistent run of form instead of 18, 2, 15 & 8 so far in the quarter totals. Aiming for the Top Four has to be one of the criteria and if not, then as close to there as possible. A bit like this season's ambitions I would say.

"with a full pre season with the squad and what the club's ambitions are."

I wouldn't get too excited,as I fully expect the pre season matches to be the usual Gretna/Annan/Dalbeattie/Workington/Queens Park/Clyde megastars from which absolutely hooha is learned apart from gaining match fitness.
Prove me wrong Queens and arrange some decent opposition with which to gauge and test the squad and hit the ground running, for what I fear may be another dismal season.

You just never know, Naysmith may have different pre season opponents than Skelton had in mind, though it would be good to play Annan with Skelton now playing there along with Weatherson.

I`ve never really understood why folk get so bothered about who we play in terms of pre-season. As you say it`s about gaining fitness. We started this season very well despite not playing "decent opposition" pre-season.
