If Boro have the dosh....have worked it out, can do it - then good luck to them, in fact get another of the same if they can, if it ups the chance of an immediate PL bounce back then why not - All In.

...am sure at some point soon.....we'll be shelling out big on some proven goal scores - wont we ???

If we have aspirations about becoming a solid PL club it’s about time we…..‘extracted the digit’…… and signed a striker who can find the net on a regular basic. Andre Gray has shown signs of being ‘the main man’, unfortunately his first touch is nothing short of atrocious resulting in wasted scoring opportunities.

We missed the boat in not going after Jermaine Defoe.

Defoe would not have come to Burnley, don't forget his loan spell at Bournemouth. They have a pull which we don't have. No boat missed.
Seems to me if Andre is sellable he will be gone as he is not committing, we are hedging our bets keeping the Forest lad alive until we get a sale. If Andre doesn't go then no Britt Assombalonga.

I'm just working on the assumption we are prepared to pull our finger out in the transfer market (Taylor, Walters and Cork already signed, sealed and delivered) and Gray is as good as gone.

The Assombalonga auction is now fluid in the market as the result of Forest's desire to extract the maximum (who can blame them?), just which other twenty goal (guaranteed) striker should we sign?

Some people just have ridiculous, unrealistic expectations for our club.

Strikers who can find the net on a regular basis in the Premier League are few and far between and if they do it for any length of time, they're quickly snapped up by the big clubs on massive contracts.

There are no guarantees that Assombalonga, or anyone else we might be able to get, would be better than Gray - their records are fairly similar - but we need to realise that these types of player are as good as it's going to get for us.

I'm not sure why the club are getting any stick at all over this, if indeed they are. We have a pretty good record with the strikers we've signed, Charlie, Ings, Barnes, Vokes and Gray, all of them done as well or better than we could have expected. It's not the club's fault that Gray struggled at PL level, or that he won't sign a new contract, or that there's an auction for Asso. All of this is fairly normal for this time of year, the time to moan is if it hasn't been resolved by the back end of August.
