And Chris martin of course
Thank you reading for giving martin a big f*** you
And a big thank you to Huddersfield for giving that "massive" sheff weds a come down.
Brilliant 2 days of football
I'll pass on the Sheff Weds thing, I have a good friend who will be really disappointed and I did explain to him earlier in the year that any connection with Forest, even if its only a subset of your striker's name, is doomed to failure...
I recall Huddersfield as being a totally inept top-flight team team who were relegated the same season Derby won their first championship. One of the few games they won was their home match with Derby on that Leeds Road quagmire. I went with my dad and his best mate, a Langley Mill lad done good (now a multi-zillionaire), a lifelong Derby fan, who had moved to nearby Brighouse with his business. Derby scored early and he cheered with the rest of us, but during the game a wierd transformation took place and by the time Huddersfield scored a late winner he was cheering for THEM, and his allegiance has been with Huddersfield to this day, to the extent that his business sponsored them briefly. Strange but true, and no he didn't get done over on the day for his turncoat behaviour, we were in the Directors Box
At least Sheffield Wednesday will look forward to facing their fellow neighbours Sheffield Utd next season.
I don't have any issues with Wednesday, they seem a decent lot and always give a good account of themselves in terms of support and banter. Hopefully Huddersfield can beat Reading though, otherwise all away games will be oop north next year!
Totally agree with that comment about Wednesday, Adi. Bit like us really, something of a 'sleeping giant' from a proper footballing city.
A long time since they fulfilled their potential but why we should laugh at them when they've done better than us for at least the last two seasons is beyond me.
Difficult to believe now that, prior to the disaster, Hillsborough was the 'go to' venue for many 'semi finals'. Other than history and it remaining one of the 'grand old' stadia it hasn't got much going for it nowadays and the away end is still bloomin' horrible.
From a selfish point of view, I wanted the strongest team to be promoted, so as to give us s better chance next season. I think Wednesday will be the strongest of the play off teams in the championship next season.
Sheffield Wednesday have now had 2 failed attempts now in 2yrs to try and get promoted to the Premier League, all I can say is welcome to the club.
