The season ended with Motherwell on the wrong end of a five goal second half in Inverness. Happily our league status had already been secured and we finished the campaign in ninth place - External Link

The only good things about this season are 1) it's over, 2) we didn't get relegated.

We were mediocre throughout, didn't win a single knock-out tie and not one of our under-20 cup winning side really made the step up (though Campbell has obviously come on late and McLean was unlucky with his injury).

That said, clubs of our stature will always have down seasons and - yet again - we have managed to ensure this one was merely bad rather than disastrous.

The contract status of so many players gives us a real chance to freshen things up. I wouldn't say I'm optimistic as such but certainly eager to see what we do. Dundee, incidentally, have said there's an announcement relating to next season at 5pm - manager presumably...
