    First incoming of the season

Peter whittingham is signing apparently from Cardiff
I can see this as a direct replacement for Mahoney who is pretty much gone
Back to the possible signing I only see this as a massive positive being his experience at this level and above
Good player with a decent corner and free kick.

Totally agree. Good signing for this level

    It's over the line
Well done Tony for no doubt being instrumental in this signing
    Very good for this level.

Certainly a touch of class for Division One. Interesting what he says about Mowbray wanting to play on-the-ground football too.

Just read the tributes to him on some of the Cardiff fans' forums too. Sounds as if he has been an outstanding professional as well as an excellent player.
Probably not an ideal match with Warnock, anyway!

I am starting to feel slightly excited aucks
A striker and possibly a midfielder and we are good to go and push for promotion.

It's odd how you get a wrong impression too, Robin. I'd always had it in my mind that Whittingham was more of a wide player. Looking through his record, though, he has spent most of his recent career as a central midfielder.

That flexibility will help us massively this really is quite a coup
Now a forward is a priority.

I certainly hope so, Alf. It's interesting that Whittingham himself talks about having to grind out results some of the time, and that TM says we will need "water-carriers" as well as "artists". One thing we really will require is a good start. We seem to have been playing catch-up on a regular basis in recent seasons.
I haven't been following the football-news much in the last couple of weeks. Have you signed anyone at Burnley?
