At that time, the two best signings Cloughy made were Dave Mackay and Willie Carlin

I think that is pretty much spot on. I have still got a few Dave Mackay ties too

He's not getting a bonus on Monday you prat, he will get that only if he has helped them achieve promotion after a successful season with them. He's getting signed for Aston Villa this weekend.

When I was a nipper I used to stand in the paddock (on a milk crate) and before kick off I used to sit on the low wall between the crowd and the pitch, which paddockites round me called the 'MacKay Wall' because he spent three seasons putting opposition players into it. slightly made up/exaggerated I'm sure but an indication of his uncompromising nature. Not sure Terry would have given us that if we'd have gone for him

A lot of fans have said Taylor was the talented one when it came to spotting a player, and that he had areally keen eye.
But Cloughy was the real force behind bringing a player up to speed because of his style of man management.
It sounds like it was one hell of a partnership.

Good defender but can't see him pulling up many trees in the Championship....................................Ba ng goes the dressing room harmony though, Vanilla seem to be clutching at straws and using the rest of their parchute payment to pay his wages. Huge gamble but we will see how it turns out

Good character and leader to have around the club to give you a huge lift but again we see how it pays off in due course.

I can break cover now the deals done. I didn't want him anywhere near Pride Park and I hope its a disaster.

Why have Villa signed Terry??? He obviously doesn't want to get promoted with Villa, today he has said he opted for a Championship club instead of a Prem one because he didn't want play against Chelsea!

He moved to Villa because they both share the same ambitions and it was the right option for him to take.

Talking about Mackay always gives me goosebumps. A true legend in every sense of the word. Football would be better if we have more Mackays around.

A great player for Chelsea, but I wonder if it's a gamble taking a one club London player out of the capital. It's a different life up here in Brum and the championship is a different game.

It'll either be a promotion clinching signing or a very expensive mistake.
