Crowd control is party of security checks.

Police failed to control the crowd and shut the gates going into the stadium, which allowed the crowd to stampede their way through and caused chaos in the stands, which caused the awful disaster. The ticket office didn't do enough to check how many tickets were sold on the day and how many people would be turning up to the event, if they had checked it thoroughly they could have prevented the mass amounts of crowd turning up to the stadium and warned them to stay away before the game occurred. If they had done their jobs properly millions of lifes would of been saved on that tragic day.

Wasn't big enough to fit the whole town of Sheffield that's for sure.

Maybe Im being thick here, but how does shutting the gates allow a crowd to stampede through?

Surely that would require them to open the gates?

Shutting the gates prevents crowds stampeding through and on the day they were open when they should of been closed, the police and the stewards on the day didn't thoroughly do their safety procedures right and should of checked the gates where shut, to prevent fans flooding through.

It was appalling and an awful tragedy that should of been preventable but due to people not doing their jobs properly it wasn't the case.

The extremists will not give a toss if one of their own is killed - another martyr to the cause and they will use it to justify more actions themselves. And so it develops.
This sums up exactly how I see things at the moment, unfortunately.

You don't half contradict yourself, however all that Hillsborough has, or may have, in common with the other two incidents is the possibility of a 'cover up'. There clearly was one at Hillsborough which would have gone unexposed had it not been for the determination of the relatives of the 96 (not millions) who died. There may well have been one with *****phile MP's and judges and it is, imo, unacceptable that we still don't know. Let's hope that Grenfell Tower isn't another example but I fear those responsible for cutting fire services, approving the installation of inappropriate cladding and sanctioning ineffective h&s checks will do all in their power to cover their backs. Anyway, even for an OT we seem to have wandered way OT and that's probably my fault.

With every disaster that occurs we certainly don't want things to repeat itself, but if security checks are not done as they should be done and they don't learn from them and don't do their jobs properly, then these disasters will keep reoccurring time and time again, until someone prevents them from happening.
