    2017/18 Fixtures

Decent start against bookies favorites Mansfield, could be a +6000 crowd. Port Vale have their 2 cup finals at fail park in September, and hopefully when we relegate them in April. Last couple of games could be interesting if we a are in the promotion mix, the Christmas period doesn't throw much up that's exciting.

Might be a good time to play them (Mansfield), before they have 'settled in' etc

We played Portsmouth early on last year and they were no better than us. I'm not overly concerned about the better teams as they are more likely to try and play football, this suits the way we play so Mansfield should be an exciting encounter. Hopefully our season will be spent in the top half of the table with an eye on the play offs. Not making too many predictions yet as we are a couple of players short but things look fairly positive.

In a change to the above fixtures, we are at home to Newport on the 12th, not away. Their pitch isn't available in August so we have reversed the two fixtures and we go down to South Wales at the end of March.

Can't see 6,000 v Mansfield-I'd be amazed if that many turned up.
They should bring a large following, yes, but even if they brought 1,500 you'd still need 4,500 Crewe fans and there's little chance of that...even more so with The Alex being notoriously poor for attendances at the beginning of a season.
We're probably looking at a gate circa 4,700.
But by the end of the campaign and with us closing in on the title we should be packing 'em in down GR.

Wasn't it this time last year that Alexander the Great was predicting something like 8000?

    Yes I was.
    And it's Alexandra,not Alexander.
