If only we could have rid ourselves of the defensive numpties in that first window - the Ward/ Izzy partnership would have counted for something. With stability Izzy would have stayed with us....yet ignorance and panicking prevailed - and the sacking of a manager brought in for a 3 year project to change the long term culture of the club cost us ( our chance ) of a Burton style survival - who kept their manager to good effect.

It's a crying shame that football ignorance and just "ignorance" cost our beautiful championship place.

It'll not happen with PW because PW is a TS designer manager....faults will not be scrutinised as closely as L1 teams don't unpick defences as clinically as championship teams. PW's trial period was horrific - yet he still got the nod ad manager so nothing he can do in L1 will cost him his job. PW is here to stay and he won't walk due to lack of funds - he'll just keep peddling "fitness" - so he won't fall off !

L1 is a terrible league of losing possession and chasing for chasing sake....the technophobes will not get the edification they got in the championship but the "Rotherham Way" fans will eat it up like the best selling Pukka Pie.

....a player .....who cost them nothing, although the Terriers will benefit from a sell-on clause thought to be around 40 or 50 per cent.

I always thought we shelled out £2-300k but it seems not
That was a very good deal for us but a lot of people at RUFC must have put a lot of work into D Ward because he didn't look the part at all for a long time before he came good

In response to the AS Fan Club, have you missed the irony that most of the income from Cardiff is likely to be wasted on Blackstock either to pay him off or have him sit at home watching Kilroy

Amazing where blame selectively falls in certain places yet praise selectively doesn't....With the control TS & PD had over the the cash / transfers.....the "blame" for Blackstock rests with TS & PD....Blackstocks had a 40% reduction in wages ( alegidly ) so let's hope PW doesn't freeze him out like he did Wilson and Blackstock last year.....playing his mates in poor form instead of using the squad as a whole....but what are MATES for.

Blackstock is that Fox in the box someone called for but we have to get into the box first.....and Forde - Taylor are the men to provide the service....

Hope there are other courses booked for Warnsey - he's gonna need them - his mate RB will have his car parking place in a blink of an eye.

AS was paid to recommend footballers to TS and PD for them to recruit. Therefore is it entirely AS's fault that he recommended someone who is well past it and clearly has a serious attitude problem.

TS and PD sanctioned a three year deal which is now coming back to bite them.
Blackstock will be paid off and he will take most of Cardiff's money with him

Not the time for recriminations, in my view.

A well written, interesting piece, Paul, thank you.

Best of luck, Danny, and thank you for some pretty good stuff in an eminently forgettable season.
