Wolves interested in Porto star Ruben Neves

There's plenty of strong rumours doing the rounds that Wolves are close to signing the Porto midfielder. If this happens Wolves will again break their transfer record. A fee of around 18 million is being quoted, crazy money if you ask me, but the player has age on his side.

It could be one of those potential signings that if it happens and he succeeds that he'll again go for big money.

If anyone had said to me twelve months ago that Wolves would sign players for 10m+ i would have laughed at them. But now, after Costa signed in the last transfer window, anything along those lines is possible.

Yeah, if all that is true, the competition is very slightly too big for us.

Tim Spiers says a fee has been agreed to (15 million, less than original speculation). Now just working on personal terms

Interesting developments to say the least.

This will happen, and I believe there is another very 'big' signing to be announced during next week.

The suggested fee was 18m Euros in the Portuguese press. I am no expert, but I think that equates to about 15m. The figure hasn't gone down, just some journalist failing to pay attention - as usual!

I have heard this rumour about Afobe to. I have to say I have mixed feeling about this as he used to drift in and out of games for us. It is too easy just to remember the good games plus he could not keep a first team place for Bournemouth.
As for Ruben Neves-what a great signing for us. Not known for his goal scoring but has been likened to a Paul Scoles type player-plenty of bite with great passing ability which is just what we need. I hope our owners go for broke with a goalscoring midfielder and a proven striker.

I'd take Afobe back in a flash. He was very good when he had other talent around him. When we let Sako go and Dicko got hurt, he was the only attacking player capable left. Still had 9 goals in a little over half a season despite frustrating us with from time to time. Didn't get a lot of playing time with Bournemouth but maybe that wakes him up to what level he is at. If we signed him, I'd bet he'd get ~15 goals for us in a full season.

You have yourself a bet Michigan. But it's one of those bets I hope you prove me wrong and he get 15 goals if we sign him.. I'll tell you something though, the Championship looks an esp. hard division to get out of this year with so many big teams buying big-our 2 Brummie neighbours being 2 of them.
