    Motherwell lose to Barrow

Motherwell lost to Barrow in the final warm-up game before Saturday's Betfred cup group stage gets underway. We conceded early in the first half but never looked like turning the game around. - External Link

Not an overly inspiring couple of results these last 2 games! No score against lowly opposition and 2 losses!? Some of my pre-season optimism has floated away ...

Results are not important in pre season bounce games. Its all about getting players fit and playing as a team. We've quite a few new players and with one or two more to come they'll take time to gel.

Don't panic is fine up to a point...but it's proven again that the attack is almost completely reliant on Moult. We lose him - to his niggling groin or a transfer - and we'll probably muddle through turns into we're probably in pretty deep trouble.

I didn't make it to Barrow, but it sounds like the same story as Gateshead - not a great deal of attacking threat. We really do need to hang on to Moult!

If Moult goes, or we don't get an adequate replacement for him it could be another long season. That's what the last two games have told us. Maybe given time the new guys could be up to the job. It does look ominous though if Moult leaves.
