    O/T California Dreaming?

Don't! I have spent the odd night in California before, a couple of nights in SanFrancisco on the way back from China and a night [ very eventful, Aussie crumpet met on the plane from Houston] going out, but never any extended time. Just finished a three week project staying in San Pablo about 40 miles north of SF. Had plenty of time off to look around, what an absolute $hithole!!

Overcrowded, expensive, noisy, dirty, roads crammed with idiots, beggars and panhandlers every freaking where, forget sitting outside a coffee shop or restuarant, the scum bags are all over you.

The background is spectacular, mountains, hills, the bay, the ocean, but the on ground reality is a freaking nightmare.

    Very sad.

    Thank God for Texas.

Yeah har, throw another log cabin on the fire.

I'm going to be in Northern California in a few weeks. My sister and her husband (in the Coast Guard) live in Fort Bragg, California. Which is apparently in the middle of nowhere, according to my sister at least. But myself, my girlfriend and my younger sister are going to visit them. Going to spend a couple days in San Fran after flying in there, then a day or two in the Redwood National Forest, then the remainder around the area she lives.

I'd like to visit the Pacific NW because that type of climate suits me more than a Texas, Florida, Southern California. Can't take the heat that much.

I guess as a visitor/tourist maybe it aint so bad, but I lived there for three weeks. OK, I stayed in a hotel but I still had to go to work, come back, go shopping, go and eat etc. It was just fecking dreadful, every supermarket I went in seemed to have its own resident screaming mad women. Not for me I'm afraid. As I said, thank god for Texas!

Unrelated, but info for woody: http://worldsoccertalk.com/2017/08/0...s-says-source/

US Championship broadcast rights have moved from BeIn sports to ESPN. 2-3 matches a week will be on ESPN3, which will be very nice as you can watch a replay rather easily.
