    She did a very good job in Broadchurch. I think it should be a solid casting. I don't get the gnashing of teeth over it. The Doctor is not from Earth and is probably nongendered to begin with. Michelle Gomez was fine as the Master as well. I don't expect it to affect the show much.

    We get many of the British shows over here either through Netflix, HULU or PBS (Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Planet Earth, Broadchurch, Call the Midwife etc). I'm not a diehard Dr Who fan, but I watch episodes every now and then. Mostly just to understand it as a cultural artifact.

    Sherlock is the only good show you mentioned there Mich, although even that has lost the spark now that it originally had.
    I think this female Dr Who decision is a pathetic one, but who knows she might improve the show again. I never did take to Peter Capaldi as the curent Dr.
    And Im guessing you were never a fan eh Abbo ?. lol
