I always got on well with him until he got a bit "bevied" and then he could go a bit out of hand.

I wouldn't have thought slim had died, he wasn't very old

I didn't like him, for reasons i'm not going into now - too much water under the bridge since then - but i hope he didn't die, he had 4 or 5 young uns, might even have been 6, and they - some of them would still be quite young (under 13 anyway)

Yes Bowers was good for a bit of banter and unlike the majority of the Muckum he could take a bit of ribbing without spitting the dummy then come back with his own digs.
