The biggest problem I had with Warne as manager last season was how he constantly praised the players in defeat. Although sometimes that is appropriate, a good manager must have another side, capable of taking the team to task and letting supporters know he isn't happy. I started to lose faith as Warne told us again and again that he was proud of his players as we had witnessed yet another demoralising defeat.
I really don't want to hear it this year. We have a squad of players who are well paid at this level and not outgunned like they were last season so barring an unlucky defeat to a higher division team in the cups. losing is t best disappointing.
That is what I mean. Obviously I don't want us to lose but when we do, we need to see Warne take the team to task to show that he has that string to his bow. If we start losing to teams we have bigger budgets than and Warne keeps his mantra of how proud he was, he will lose the fans quickly.
Plenty of managers don't slag the team in public. It's what goes on behind the scenes that matters.
Tbh I don't care if warne never talks to the media as long as whoever crosses the line for rufc give 100%. If after that their not good enough, so be it..
This is a big season for Warne and a big season for TS.
It's a long hard season and it will be tough with periods of losses I think?
Will Warne handle it well and will he get the backing from TS ?
The fans can play there part but I think your correct Tony it depends on how Warne handles it with the media.
Patience is needed I think?

I understand your comments Tony and agree with them for the most part.
However, good managers in all walks of life need to have several strings to their bow so that they are able to act appropriately to different situations.
There were times last season when Warne's comments after yet another defeat were cringeworthy.
However, anyone who went to the game at Hillsborough would surely agree that he needed to support his players after their efforts were ruined by an inept referee.
Warney is still learning his craft so hopefully we'll see a more balanced approach from him this season.
Yes some defeats can be praised but you can't praise garbage (winds fans up even more) Warney needs to get the balance right.
