    The John Terry burglary

Now I would never condone these lowlife scums actions but it does make you think about common sense and the nauseating devil that is social media.
John "Hey, let's broadcast to the world that my house is empty" Terry and his (poor) wife gave every thieving tramp a virtual illegal house key with their holiday snaps.
So unfortunately Mr. Chelsea must harbour some of the blame for the break in.

Made me wonder though what would happen if these scumbags had burgled my (or your) house. Let's remember, these tramps got a deserved combined sentence of 24 years.

Can't help but think that if they had breached my front door and stole my most valuable possessions, there would be zero media coverage, obviously, and a slap on the wrist and maybe Community Service would be suffice.

It's just a guess Newcy, but I suspect that you don't live in a mansion with contents worth hundreds of thousands and I don't recall you ever having been captain of England! However, I do take your point and we just have to accept that us minions are just not high enough up the pecking order to count!

Good to see that the scum got what they deserved though!

I've been known to shop at Waitrose now and again

I suppose one point I'm making is why make what basically is a fundamental run of the mill robbery (empty house=loot the place) into BIG national news?

    A £40,000 handbag was stolen.

    Yep, you read it right.

    A £40,000 handbag.

If it had been mine or your home that they broke into, the sentence would be a lot less without a doubt. Because it's an high profile footballer and someone with millions in the bank, the law looks at it differently.

In a way John Terry only has himself to blame for telling those on social media that he's on holiday.
