I was speaking to Dobbie just after the game and he told me that he should be fine for next weekend.

Could it be a nostalgia trip back to October 2002 when Queens won the Challenge Cup at Broadwood vs. Brechin City and will Lyle score again?

My prediction 3-1 to the South....
    Even better.....4-1

All round good performance today with no failures and a high level of energy as well as commitment on show throughout. It has to be tempered by the apparent quality of the opposition but encouraging to say the least especially with Dobbie missing. Special mention to the defence which generally looked solid all game and to Rankin who was all over the pitch leading by example for the 90 minutes. Next Saturday will be tougher examination of the new defensive line up after which we will have a better idea of this Queens side.

Lyndon Dykes gets a fair amount of criticism so let's give credit where credit is due. This season , already, I have seen him twice chase down seemingly lost cause balls and force mistakes of opposing goalkeepers and defenders. Today and at the Hamilton away game. Well done Lyndon and hope that goal today gives you a bit more confidence.

It is hoped to have two new outfield additions to the side within the next week.

Great to win the first game to get of to a positive start with all the negative feelings before the match and a nice bonus to be top aswell even if it is just for one week and hopefully Dykes after his goal today can kick on to the form he was playing at the start of last season.

Also great to see Lyle starting the season with 2 goals in his quest to move up the all time Queens goalscorers list.

    1. Jim Patterson - 251
    2. Bobby Black - 120
    3. Andy Thomson - 114
    4. Derek Lyle - 111

Lyle to get a hat-trick to equal Thomson's tally would be good.
