    Squad rotation

What's become evident even this early in the season is that McInnes seems to have cracked the idea of resting certain players at certain times of the season; case in point yesterday, when he rested arguably our best player so far (Christie) and last weekend and midweek with GMS and Stewart, to no obvious detriment in overall performance.

4 games in 9 days was always going to be tough and its obviously down to having a far deeper squad that had allowed McInnes to do this. No "squad players" signed this summer; just 7 lads who can all claim to be first team picks if required.

You'd imagine he'd be going with more or less the same back 4 and defensive midfield 2 every week but it's the forward 4 that we now have massive scope to mix and match and rest whoever needs it.

Cast your mind back to the last few seasons and its been more or less the same 11 thrashed into the ground week in week out, and any time the manager did fcuk about with squad rotation, it backfired massively due to Stockley, Parker, Burns etc etc simply not being up to scratch.

Exciting times ahead, and we still have Arnie and Rooney to add to the mix.

Squad rotation is easier with a strong squad which we have this year. Also, it makes you want to be the best. Wright/GMS, Rooney/Maynard/May, McLean/Tansey. Competition is healthy.

Indeed it is healthy. I laugh out loud when folk say having two players competing for the one position breeds discontentment and disharmony in the group.

    There is one thing certain.
It is that we should be working to create the best team without Christie. Long before the season ends.
Still utilize him off course. But find our best formation minus him , so that when he is away, we have a known solid base with what we have & can build on.

Which will be playing Tansey in the deeper Midfield role. Putting McLean to No 10 . His best position. And playing Stewart out right, and Wright out left......or GMS out right and Stewart/Wright out left.

We`ll still have great options !!! Still May / Rooney / Maynard to fit in. Yahoo !!
