He's not bleeding it dry because that means he is taking money out. The problem is that he is not allowing the club to invest.

That may be true TopToon but he is bleeding the club dry as far as potential is concerned. And potential achievable ambition.

But what is potential achievable ambition?
What money would this club have to hand out in transfer fees and wages to achieve this ambition?
What is the ambition of all clubs in our position?

Which clubs in the premier league have achievable ambition in terms of not having to worry about any implications of missing out on attempting whatever the ambition is?

Most teams appear to have an ambition of basically staying in the premier league, no matter what and then basically trying to finish as high as they can.

Most clubs in the premier league right now are going to suffer the consequences of punching well above their weight. It's going to happen, because most of them will not achieve any real ambition other than to say they had a good old bash at it but couldn't sustain the come down.

As fans, our real hope for ambition is to win the FA cup or get into the champions league.
Our real expectations are a mixture beating relegation to finishing in the top 10.

As for the first one. What can the club give out to achieve that?
What transfer pot would give us a better than average chance of achieving that?

As for the second one, I'd say it's literally achievable in short order. maybe even this season if there's no discontent.
But first things first.
Avoiding relegation is the main issue most fans seem to have, so on that note, I'd say we have a squad that is equipped enough to easily avoid it.

Last time we were relegated we had a squad who shouldn't have gone down but we did, having beaten, no thrashed Spurs, the runners up last game of the season.

We can't be complacent and think our squad is good enough. Leicester won the Prem season before last with a squad just above average, so a squad as ours was, relegation year not one of the poorest in the division, never the less got relegated.

Therefore we need a squad stronger than average to be sure we aren't sucked into a relegation fight.

It's no good for the club, the players or the supporters. Only Ashley seems to derive some satisfaction from it with no doubt some hidden agenda.

Last time we were relegated we had a squad who shouldn't have gone down but we did, having beaten, no thrashed Spurs, the runners up last game of the season.

We got relegated because the club hired a man who couldn't get the best out of the players he had at his disposal and replaced him just a tad too late.
We have a manager than is more than capable of getting the best out of most of what he has at his disposal, this season and remember that this man, Rafa was the reason why we beat Spurs by that score.
A mere two games earlier and we wouldn't have been relegated in my opinion...BUT.... well, we did.

We can't be complacent and think our squad is good enough.

I'm not saying the club should be complacent and think it's good enough but the fact is we have bought some very good quality and potential to go with what we have.
We're also only 3 games into the season where none of us know the true strength of what we really have.
Most teams in the premier league will be attempting to avoid relegation before they think about anything else.
Nothing is rubberstamped no matter what buys teams bring in.

It used to be Man Utd.
If you think this Leicester team won the league with average players then fine...no problem.
I don't believe it for one minute.
This basically shows how we're being played like fiddles.

Correct, it wasn't poor at all to be fair. It had all the hallmarks of a mid table team but you only achieve it all if you have committed players who work as a team and for the right manager.

I believe we have a team that is way stronger than average in terms of staying away from a relegation place, quite comfortably.
