O/T – Notts Lift Second One Day Trophy

Just back from a wonderful day at Edgbaston. Two marvellous performances by Notts to lift the T20 trophy to go with the One Day trophy won at Lords a couple of months ago.

An all round team performance, with the bowlers coming up trumps in both games. Gurney taking 3-19 in the semi and 4-17 in the final.

At 30-3, all to Woakes, it looked like we’d blown it but a great stand between Patel and Taylor, together with some big hitting in the final over by Christian, saw us comfortably through in the end.

And the Pies picked up another 3 points as well (and Mansfield didn’t). What a day!

    Fantastic

Two great performances from the bowlers to defend moderate totals.

Good to see that batting in depth still can get us out of a hole.

Well done Notts CCC a great credit to Nottingham and with the way they play, cricket.

Still fail to see why Samit didn't play more for England when you see some of the current rabbits.

Samit was always picked as a specialist spinner not as an all rounder which he now is. Wasn't Swanny the first choice spinner at the time?

Disagree with that analysis Samit to me has always been a batsman that can bowl.

A talent that has been misused because his face (and alleged fitness) didn't fit and don't get me started on Chris Read !!

Excellent really proud and deserved ( I'm guessing some will be on here moaning because our batsman didn't hit enough sixes!! 😉 ) Great for the city and the profile of Nottingham sport in general.

I actually think that this team would have had a decent punt at the div 1 title if they'd been in it. I don't think there's a yawning gap between the divisions except for the teams like Leics and Derbys at the bottom end of 2.

Correct, the main thing about Samit is if he fails with the ball he will score you runs and visa versa, but to me its his batting that he should be played for the bowling is a bonus.

A great win for our cricketers in fact a great weekend for Nottingham sport as well as the T20 the Panthers had a great win the Rugby won away as did we & the Stags got a decent draw. I only got a passing glance at the redrag but the headlines were along the lines of, Forest need to be more flexible, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought they had the weekend off, as Sky now have a dedicated channel for non Premier football is it not time for a weekly paper that covers all non Forest related sport?

Tremendous performances in both games to drag matches around which seemed to be slipping away.

I haven't seen any mention (Sky commentary, BBC website, today's paper) of Samit's two runouts being direct hits with his wrong arm.
