    O/T York car smash

A car smashes through an house in York, our last house (old) had a wall at front and a car smashed into that, smashed all front of car in but not much damage to wall really so what are these new houses built like?
Just looking at the pic and it seems fairly new

Strange place to park though I must say!

It looks pretty well built to me Topsy. A nice clean opening with the bricks breaking either side so the mix was a good one. The bricks above the car holding in place well.

If I was ever to get a gnome I don't think I'd have one that big or in yellow!

    😄😄

    Frog you're a bad one.

As for the parking I find it clean well measured and allowed a good clearance for reversing well done that driver 1010

Then again this could be a Banksy

Funny thing is that cop looking puzzled it's like he's wondering how to give the guy a parking ticket when he's not on the path or double yellow

Maybe he didn't like leaving his car out in the rain

Can't really make any judgement about the strength of the wall.

It entirely depends on the speed the car was travelling at.

That's the last time he will buy an electric car and ask his wife to plug it in.

As for the brickwork it looks like standard cavity construction with wall ties. The wall hasn't collapsed above it due to a phenomenon called arching. Well known even in the ancient world of the Greeks and Romans
