The more you think about it, the more you realise Gayle is not suited to the lone striker role Rafa wants. Joselu is nowt special but in the little time we've seen him, he's done that 'job' particularly well. Gayle, for me, should play behind Joselu instead of Perez or Diame-buzzing about, picking up knock downs, etc.

I agree with that, in a similar role that Bellamy did with Shearer.

Gayle is an out and out striker and couldn“t lace Bellendamy“s boots.

I think he could turn out to be pretty special. With a bit more confidence acquired by scoring some goals, I think he could become a good PL striker. He did some terrific stuff at Swansea - had Fabianski not had an amazing game, he would've definitely scored one, maybe two.

I really want him to score against them as i think it'll mean a lot to him but he seems desperate to score and is missing chances i think he'd take against other clubs.

if Mitro or Gayle missed the 3 chances he missed, they'd be crucified.

he's a handful, but other than that, hes very poor!

His all round play is decent but his 3 misses- especially the two one on ones were...well, they were the strikes of a £5 million forward, tbh. Get what you pay for.

Not having a go, mind. He is what he is and he works bloody hard. You'd like to think that on another day they go in and he's a hero but as chances go they were about as good as you are ever going to get.

They would but they've also been here longer than 4 or 5 games.
