    Shooting ourselves in the foot

We are scoring loads of goals, the defenders ( especially the right back) are chipping in and looking like a solid unit at the same time . Why of why would you bench said right back and play a centre half in his position. This nullifies our threat without the rampaging Rooney and I don't see any logical point at all from this. Naysmith, you need to stop over analysing things and play to our strengths, starting next week.

The right back position was clearly the weakest link yesterday with Fordyce constantly being dragged towards the middle of the pitch leaving a enormous void for Morton and Quitingo in particular to exploit. If Naysmith was frightened of both Rooney and Mercer being caught out, our two right backs sat on the bench, then he found out that Fordyce also is lacking pace when up against exceptionally quick forwards and doubling up in that area of the pitch might be the only option to counter this type of threat. Last year Mercer was skinned against St Mirren and by all accounts Rooney had an uncomfortable experience against Dundee Utd at Tannadice. Sometimes you just have to acknowledge that phenomenal pace is too much for an individual to cope with, as has been the case throughout history, and you need to double up or take more extreme measures and resort to physicality to thwart it. It can't do the morale of the clubs right backs any good at being dropped at the first hint of a pacey opponent.

well i dont know what thay are coached nowadays but ,everyone with any knowlage of football should know if your up against a player with superior skill and pace all you need to do is drop of him giving you a few yards start ,or give him more time and let him turn with the ball then he has to get past you while facing him ,iv noticed scottish defenders have this first to the ball attitude ,anyone with a bit of skill and pace will have a field day with defenders doing that .

Jacobs moving to right back is another option, although he wasn't too good there last season tbh.

I do like Rooney actually and he should be played there. I would drop Fordyce and play Brownlie and Kerr as the centre-back pairing....
