I have said all along that last season (rather than being negative) was about setting out a system, a way the club / team would play. he was getting the majority used to it, so that the few (newcomers) could be more easy integrated.

he only wants players that follow instruction, stick to his game plan and work 100%, every minute of every game.

if Ashley doesn't blow it, we will improve year on year!

I'm going to just enjoy the moment, as I'm not confident it will last.

As you said he's not Rafa's type of player for the system he wants to play in the prem.

Which is a shame in my mind because i think Gayle could do well in prem.
I think Gayle would only prosper in a 4-4-2 with someone alongside him, sadly.

Think you're right-his days may be numbered.

Dead on ! If Ashley can't see this he's a very poor business man who takes too much advice from his minions.

Rafa is meticulous in every way. He plans for what's best in the long run with the material he has in hand.

I think as long as he's not forced out and allowed to carry on with his master plan we will see improvement window by window with two or three players departing, either because they aren't good enough or because they are not fitting into the plan and replaced by better quality.

This obviously won't work week in week out but it will work in the majority of cases, thus we will be better than 50/50 and always improving over the long run.

You fear that you´ve misjudged Rafa?

    He must be mightily relieved.

In the Mag they´re talking about Lazaar´s two appearances for his new club. Apparently he´s not tracking back and disappeared from the game after a while.

That's something Rafa wouldn't have liked.

If he was doing that in training it would go someway to show why he wasn't getting picked.

After the Swansea game he was named in the Premier League team of the weekend along with Lascelles.
