Think it's more than just his performance that it at fault. When the owenership gets into difficulty with the fans of any club it always makes for an uncertain climate. We can speak to years of uncertainty ever since Angus Cook took over. He had enlightened ideas about how the club should be run but it didn't work and the decline started.
