On performance alone Saturday he deserved to be dropped next game because his passing and especially crossing was poor. I thought Purrington was unlucky in the first place to lose his place in the team.

I agree. Full backs on both sides are poor at the moment. Vaulks isn't a right back. Hopefully Purrington will have a good game with Mattock out.

You've both got to be joking, he had a solid game defensively saturday, he was a fool getting the silly yellow cards granted, but in that first half alone he headed away at least three crosses that were destined for a free head, and put in countless tackles, alongside overlapping his midfielder whenever he could, he was pretty solid.

Got to say Mattocks ahead of Purrington imo.

At the moment I prefer Mattock to Purrington and struggle to understand why we paid £300k for the latter.
A genuine concern is that Purrington always seems to run out of steam after 70 minutes.

I was hoping that Mattock would do well at this level, but not much sign of that yet... sadly, Purrington hasn't really been an obviously better alternative either. Disappointing, especially if rumours are true about the transfer fee. Hopefully. he's young enough to improve.

I really hope Purrington does improve as there are signs that there is a decent player in there somewhere.
I've said before that I think we should appoint a recognised defensive coach as that's obviously the weakest area of the team. Surely it would also be of enormous benefit to players like Purrington, Ajayi and Ihiekwe to get some one-to-one specialist coaching.

We're not Man U ect... It's getting right coaches in to start with. Warney & Barker were strikers. Is it to obvious coaching set-up needs to a be cross section of expertise to start with.

Problem with the full backs, whoever plays there gets no cover from the wingers in front of them. Centre backs is more specialised. We leave gaps. Bad goal to give away against Bradford. You can only coach so far. You've got to have the positional sense to start with. Hope Manny is more clued up. Get him in sat', get him up to speed. Or are we going the same way as we have with JCH. Expect to come straight on when he needs match time.

Are you seriously saying that Taylor doesn't track back to help his full back?
Don't know what you've been watching.
