I'm struggling with the concept that a premier League footballer shouldn't be taking a penalty, whatever position he plays. Tarko can put a 40 yard pass right on top of Brady's head at Anfield, but he can't score a penalty from 12 yards ? The best penalty taker I've ever seen played full-back for most of his career.

Burnley fans of the past would have loved for us to win one of the 2 big cups in English football. Not now , it seems these cups are beneath us. All to hang on to a place in the Premier League. Its an existence of some sort I suppose.

Years ago if you were struggling at the bottom of the first division you didn't mind getting relegated. The feeling then was that the following season you would probably win more games and hopefully be challenging for promotion. Now your finances will be seriously affected, your wage bill will have to be cut and God help you if you don't get back before your parachute payments run out.Once that happens you have to slash your budget and unload all of your top earners, gates drop and it is very hard to get back. All this means that Clubs are not bothered about Cup Competitions. It is sad but it is reality.

Milk Cup, Beer Cup, Energy Drink Cup etc. etc. It's not the clubs who have demeaned the old League Cup, it's the money grabbing, disingenuous FA, EFL and EPL hierarchy who just want the lucre.

Like I said donzy, it's all about the money!
