All things equal the back four could have looked something like this had the investment come two or three years ago .

    Holgate
    Stones
    Mawson
    Yiadom

With Marc Roberts on the bench to boot .

Hopefully we can achieve something just as good in the season's to come .

Doubtful. Not from the academy anyway, non even Man U replicated the "Class of 92".

We are Barnsley not Man Utd with money to buy the best talent around .

This is our model , academy and young talent from other clubs , it's what we do and we do it well .

Billy Beane was not the creator of Moneyball Animal. He was general manager at Oakland Athletics and tried out some of the theories of Bill James. The film was very good but it is widely accepted that it hugely exaggerated Beane's role for dramatic effect. The closest thing to sabermetrics in UK football is Brentford.

I know, I'm just saying these things come in cycles and I can't see the same quality of players coming through again in the near future, maybe never, when did Barnsley produce players as good as this before?
