exile, so far noone seems to be coming out with much credit. Interesting that America's experience in the Korean War, an obsession with communist threats and complete acceptance of the Domino Theory came to completely override their earlier (probably genuine) anti-colonial stance. The CIA have a lot to answer for and the French seem completely appalling in a colonial context.
It's estimated that 500,000 American soldiers suffered with post-traumatic stress disorder following in from the war.
Wonder what the Vietnamese figure was?
There were over 3 million killed (58,000) Americans and 12 million Vietnamese were left as refugees.
Definitely worth it don't you think?
I'm watching or have watched a programme where 6 disabled people have crossed Vietnam. Humbling is the right word to use. The guys who are disabled are meeting with victims of accidents and the difference was highlighted last night when the Young girl who had lost her leg on the Alton Towers ride a couple of years ago compaired her her £70k leg to a guy who lost his leg to a land mine and paid £30 for a wooden one.
I also watched a River Monsters programme where fishing was tolerated
