While the top half of the table has featured alot of surprised (Cardiff, Ipswich, PNE etc), I think Sheffield United has got to be one of the 2-3 most surprising starts to the season. I thought they'd be able to stay up this season, but I didn't think they'd be sitting in the top 4 1/5 of the way through the season. They've got 18 points from their first 27, which is a pretty good accomplishment. They will be flying high after a 4-2 victory over their rivals at Hillsbrough. They've beaten some of the early favorites (Derby, Sunderland, Wednesday). They've also lost to Boro, Cardiff, and Norwich - but that's three clubs that I doubt they'd have expected to get a ton of points from in preseason. They're tied for 4th least goals conceded so far this season and are middle of the pack when it comes to goals scored as 6 clubs have scored 12 league goals. They've got some dangerous scorers in Clayton Donaldson, Billy Sharp and our very own Leon Clarke. It's not the most prolific scoring trio, but it's an experienced one in the Football League. Those are some savvy players that will test our defenders. I think this will be a very close match. I could see it going either way, so I'm picking a draw.
