they actually all believe they're onto something massive here!!!

the st mirren manager is gonna bring the glory days rolling in, when the man who took Wales to European championship semi finals flopped so spectacularly.

they do actually realise that they're in the 3rd division don't they?

It's likely to be a decade or a score of years before Sunderland ever get to sniff premier league football, most likely.
I don't know whether that could be a good thing or a bad thing over time for their fans...seriously.

The way things are going with this new pennies from heaven owner and his scottish league managerial appointment, they might do well in league one, which will, sooner or later bring fans back in their droves, regardless of the league.

The closer they get to a promotion the more fans will get back onboard.
It's anyone's guess whether they make it back to the championship in short order but my guess is, they will.
From there's...unless some rich sugar daddy owner comes in, I think they're destined to tick along around mid table and maybe at times, the lower part of the championship, with the odd flirt with the playoff's but never really making it in the end.

As obvious as it it, this is what can happen when an owner tries to take risks in a generous way thinking it'll all be sweet smelling roses.

But only for another season and then another tumble into hidden depths.

By then of course hopefully Gateshead will have benn promoted and the Heed will be looking forward to beating their neighbours in this country's biggest local derby
