I'd forgotten what a great song "Refugee" was.....I was staggered to find it was from 1979,i thought it was way later than that.

I wonder if Petty ever thought of Suing Bryan Adams for his song "Run to you" because the opening bars and the chorus seem almost identical to me?

    Both cracking songs though.

There were quite a few who 'replicated' various parts of Tom Petty songs and as far as I know, he didn't sue any of them; some credits were amended and that was the end of it. He apparently said that lots of rock songs sound similar, "ask Chuck Berry"! From what I have read about Tom Petty, he was, in addition to being a great rock star, a really nice bloke.

I have been listening to his stuff quite a lot over recent months and I do prefer the later songs, especially those co-written and produced by Jeff Lynne.
