    Food at the Hawthorns

What are people's general views of the food at the stadium these days?

I see they've made a few changes over the summer so what do people think?

    Cheers,

Had a steak and kidney Pukka pie the other week.

    Very nice.

Don't usually eat in the ground though as match day catering is generally too expensive.

And as for the price of the beer /piss water, well...............

I drive up nowadays so only buy a coffee or two, sometimes maybe a chocolate bar to share with my Dad and the nipper. It's not cheap but like any captive audience I tend to accept it. I almost don't mind putting into my clubs coffers, not that they're short nowadays!

My issue is the bleeding service and queuing, you can queue all half time and still not get served. Also, they have one jug of milk, if you want to cool down the scaldingly hot coffee, you can bet the jug is at the opposite end of the counter to where you are, why can't they have a second one ffs?! Then you have to contend with people crossing the queues to get to said milk jug, or buggering off with it just as you've worked your way over to it, fkin laughable some days, like something out of Benny Hill!

Thanks for posting that Albionic. Interesting. One question: What has happened to the large car park area that used to be to the rear of the Smethwick End? Cheers

No idea chap, but then I’m only a young whipper snapper of 49.

Honestly can’t remember there being a large car park behind the Smethwick (due to housing) in my life time, as demonstrated in the pictures below.

    1970.

    Present day.

The same houses are there in both photos, just as they were in 1932.

Are you sure you don’t mean the East Stand and Smethwick corner?
    If so it’s still there.

Hope you don’t mind me asking Q, but when was your last visit to the Shrine?

The first pic of the Hawthorns is pre 1968 when the Brummie was rebuilt.

As for the food and drink, there is a reason why The Sportsman, Vine, Desi and Cricket Club are always rammed.

Yep you can see why from the menu posted by Albionic. I mean since when does as a cup of tay cost the same as a cup of coffee? Bovril at £2.40 we always took a flask. Can you take a flask in these days or does the security view it as a weapon, confiscate it and stick it in the special room for later collection?
