I enjoyed the Bobby Charlton 80th birthday programme in the company of a United fan who reckoned he was the greatest goalscoring midfielder of all time. I piped up with Tony Brown but I was bit unsure of the stats until I got home. I chucked in Frank Lampard as the best in the modern era. Charlton for United, Bomber for the Albion and Lampard for West Ham, Chelsea and Man City.

Brown Games 574 Goals 218
Lampard Games 618 Goals 178
Add in the other 2 played for teams that scored far more goals in those games and it makes Bomber's goalscoring record even more amazing.
So was Tony 'Bomber' Brown the greatest goalscoring midfielder of all time? I can't think of a rival.
