I was watching the tale of Eric Olthwaite, the king of Denley Moor, earlier today and recalled that his parents and sister would speak in French at meal times as he was so boring that was the best way to avoid conversing with him. It got me thinking....

When a certain poster, who needs not pollute this message board with his name, was on holiday, he complained bitterly that all around him were French. But I wonder if they were in fact not just simply speaking in French too, for the same reason as EO's family did? I have not heard said poster talking of shovels and rainfall, and indeed the latter day Eric would simply post links about shovels and to weather related websites, but I think we have cracked it.
