Thread: Jones and Cooper delay in signing extensions?

  1. #11
Jones will probably end up at coming to PNE in January, hence why there's not much point in him extending his deal.

The transfer was called off because we didn't want to pay a fee/wages when he wasn't going to be fit until close to January anyway, but it was due to be looked at again come the January window.

Apparently Alex Neil really rates him.

Cooper's goals and assists last season and this make him a prospect. So, yes, plenty will be interested. It just depends on what we want for him and what prospective buyers are prepared to pay. But like it or not, his consistency,or lack of it, won't bother anyone with any football nous

Really good news coming out of the football club this week. Ryan Wintle has signed a contract that keeps him at the club until 2020, stating that he "owes it to the football club". This relates to the fact that Dario Gradi plucked him from non-league, Alsager Town and gave him his senior chance. Great comments from a talented young man. Nice to see good old fashioned loyalty, rather than the attempts to jump ship that we have seen so recently.

It also shows we don't need to rely on a Cat 2 academy or even lower when there must be hundreds of players up and down the country playing in non league that could make the grade given the chance but the obvious problem is when you have spent 10 years coaching and 10 million pounds, they don't want dozens queuing up from non league or even other academies.

No Mick, we will see the normal situation with the other two that they will hang on and on hoping someone will come before the end of the season and if not reluctantly sign an extension. I'm still mystified why Ray hung on and on until the last minute and we knew he was unlikely to be playing for half a season too? And then they all claim loyalty and what they were going to do anyway!

Its probably me, but I could never bring myself to applaud them on the pitch when they do things like that...

What they are now finding is our world famous academy is struggling to get to L2 standard and getting a million pound for one must now be hope rather than expectation!
