    .

here we go.....down the rabbit hole - and it's full of political poop.

I see this news was released a few weeks ago....and from what I can tell - was pretty much ignored, now the ONS has "decided" that Britain overestimated it's international assets....so what made them come to that decision - would only be fair to be shown exactly where the losses were incurred.....what's Inside that number, as otherwise, is all guesswork.....so therefore - I think i'll "Decide" - to ignore it.

We can either chase a utopian dream with open borders where we value people more than money or we can just keep glad-handing our money to the world's richest 5%. I'm going for the Socialist dream.

This is the usual Tory Party response when we dare to protest too much...

Go on then 59-60, I won't argue with you, it's just that I've always associated the Tories with lower taxes, which makes me wonder whether May and Hammond really are Tories or a Blueish version of New Labour.

    They're back.

BT, in an earlier post you said,

"Where did you read anything about shoving Corporation Tax up massively?

An old Labour trick of Wilson & Callaghan was to bring Corporation Tax down for those Companies who were prepared to invest in plant and machinery.

I believe that is what we should do now. I might be part of the "Lunatic Left" fringe you all seem to despise so much but one thing none of us can deny is the true entrepreneurial spirit of the majority of honest, hardworking British businessmen."

At that point you were obviously unaware that it is Labour policy to increase corporation tax from 19% to 26%.

Now that you are aware of their plan, you are advocating taxing them till the pips squeak.

You are one of those who agree slavishly with what your leaders (Corbyn etc) tell you to believe. I think it's always better to be a free thinker with an open mind.

Bloody hell Sinkov. I think me and you need to start our own movement to save our economy.

Just leave the environmental bits to me, eh? You can do the economic stuff.

    Let's get saddled up!

I've no idea what the Tory response might be, I'm just looking at what happens in real life. When Hollande tried making pips squeak in France there was a mass exodus of wealth. Where is Hollande now ? In obscurity, which is where his crass stupidity led him. On the second part, that's not the Tory response I'm talking about, it's the inevitable response of the electorate after they realise they've been sold a pup by Labour yet again.

Let me explain? Corporation tax is for businesses, high rate income tax is for the greedy pension raiding mobsters such as the vile reptilian Philip Green and the fat knob head who runs Sports Direct and wants to bring back serfdom. Taxing those of that ilk until their pips squeak evokes very little sympathy from most folks I know.

Not sure if you have ever run a company OC/sinkov but the more you invest the less you are taxed! A fine balancing act is required between keeping your shareholders happy and investing in the business.

Burnley FC seem to manage that particular conundrum pretty well!

Aye BT, and it sounds like a great idea after a few pints down the pub.

Labour told us they had a fully costed plan for spending the £billions that they promised.

This plan was, essentially, to tax the wealthy and to greatly increase the tax on businesses (mainly through corporation tax).

I think we are about the same age and have seen that these plans simply won't raise anywhere near the amounts that Labour have budgeted for.
The rich have the best financial advisers who will find a way to beat the system. Always have, always will.

Similarly with businesses. They will pay nothing like the amount that Labour is saying.

We both agree that our wealth creators should be fully supported - they bring the wealth for us to spend on our services. To send out a message that Labour would heavily tax them if they got in office is not going to encourage them at all. It is a global market now, so why should they stay here if we make life difficult for them?

Labours plans are ill conceived, unrealistic and threaten great damage to our economy - just when we need to be supporting our wealth creators.

The pound is on its arse.
    Inflation is rising.
State pensions a third of what out peers receive in France and Germany.
Thousands of 60 year old plus women in the UK fiddled out of their pension entitlement.
    Trident still going ahead.
    RAF without planes.
BAE cutting jobs even though RAF have no planes.
    Vauxhall on its arse.
Half a trillion black hole just discovered in the Chancellor's accounts.
    Brexit!
Disability Allowances regularly slashed and denied.
    Universal Credit system broken.
    Grenfell Tower aftermath.
    NHS on its knees.
    Homelessness on the rise.
Could the Labour Party really do any worse?
