Gary Rowett’s Reasoning Behind Selecting Vydra & Nugent Ahead Of Martin Against NF

Gary Rowett has revealed why he recalled Matej Vydra and David Nugent for Derby County's game against Nottingham Forest.

It was the first time that either had started in three matches since the home draw with Birmingham City last month.

"I don't know the exact stats but I think Vydra and Nugent have scored about eight or nine goals between them in the 13 or 14 games since we've been in," Rowett said.

"It's a simple fact that, especially at home, those two have been our best performers in terms of goals and in terms of our attacking play.

"Obviously, we need other players to step up and add to that."

Nugent has featured in 19 (14 of them starts) and scored eight goals.

Vydra has played in 15 (12 starts, three as a substitute) and found the net seven times.

"It was a difficult selection, because I thought Chris Martin did really well against Cardiff and I was very tempted to put him in," Rowett added.

"Again, we've got some really strong options which, at times, makes the job harder because if you've only got one player up there, you only pick that one player and you've got to work with them.

"When you've got three great options in Chris Martin, David Nugent and Sam Winnall - of course, with Vyds just behind them - it makes it a bit more of a challenge."

Let’s hope Rowett keeps picking Vydra & Nugent because they gel well together as a front pairing and they showed that on Saturday against Forest with Nugent setting up Vydra for his goal in the first minute. If Vydra & Nugent can keep out the likes of Martin & Winnall in the front attacking line-up, then their hard work has paid off on the training ground and positions for places will be hot and will get players working extra harder to prove to themselves they have what it takes to take them off their perch.

Lolz.... but according to our esteemed leader, who observes from afar, we're engaging in bullying tactics.

Perhaps he forgets this is a forum, when someone posts, especially the plagiarism galore being dished out ad infinitum, others see a need to call it out for what it is.

Its all just a bit of banter as far as I'm concerned, DDD seems a resilient fellah, well capable of holding his own, and subject to him reining in his sweariness, tendency to lapse into bad taste and habit of adopting the cub reporter role, he'll do fine.

Just those three things, the dogmatism and incessant plagiarism then...don't know what all the fuss is about.

I was going to say '....hmmm that's quite a job list he has' but I'm in peacemaking (tempered with a bit of ****taking) mode.

But if he reins in those three things he will have nothing to say. Not that he does anyway, other than to recycle and mangle other people's thoughts.

He really is the Donald Trump of the boards - an all powerful gobsheite.

Amazing what one can find on the DET website, might just tip them off that your plagerising their stuff with no credit, seeing as complaining to MOD does **** all!
