    AFC Wimbledon Post Match Thoughts

Popped off for a few minutes when we equalised fully expecting to push on for the win only to see a 3-1 reversal. With 8 draws tonight no real harm done. Thoughts?

I thought Wood was too slow to use in away games, with perhaps pacy forwards going at him, then he scores a goal for the Millers & gets in the division 1 team of the week, but tonight he was the culprit for their third goal, be better playing Ajayi & putting Wood on the bench on the away games.

Bonus tonight for Wimbledon supporters, they paid only £10 for one part of the ground, under 18's paid a £1, with vouchers they got, plus a good home win.

Warne & co to work on defensive mistakes for Saturday.

Same old defensive frailties coming back again. When our attack doesn't do the job, we can always rely on the defence to throw a couple of chances in......and we did, and they took them. Does this mean Ajayi is back in now? He was dropped for a couple of mistakes, but i think he's always liable to give a chance away. Anyway, onwards to Oxford...................UTM

I think this also proves that there's nothing easy in this division and we should stay level headed and accept it, worrying defensive mistakes but we know that's kind of us at the moment isn't it? at home we're rolling teams over, different gravy away....trust the fitness coach folks, he'll get it right.

Shame that - goes without saying of course that if we defend like that at Oxford we may get mullered. Suspect some changes may be made. More disappointing when experienced players muck up - you expect it from younger players learning the game on occasion. One day, we will have a decent, reliable defence and still better than last year. No easy games in this league, ask Blackburn tonight

    Just on way back.

It’s not just the defence the midfield let runners just saunter past them tonight which put us under pressure. At times we had to foul them to stop the attacks.
Poor game against a poor team we had more shots than them I think from memory.
Not gonna slate players by name it happens.

    Mom the travelling die hard.
    On to Oxford

As one of the 'men of the match' safe journey back to you and your fellow travellers - sounds like they've done to us what we do to sides at NYS i.e. press high and seek to overrun the opposition?

    Yep Saw

That sums it up at 1-1 we should see out for a draw but this is the millers.

Been to the match. Poor first half from the Millers, not helped by Williams looking nowhere near match fit (so why pick him to start when we had Newell on the bench?). Lack of pace in our defence led to the first Wimbledon goal, and that was a problem throughout the match. Much better second half from the Millers initially, with Newell replacing Williams and scoring a good equaliising goal. It looked like we could go on to win from there as the Dons keper pulled off a couple of great saves... but the Dons then broke away against the run of play and scored. Thought Vaulks had an error-ridden game, constantly not getting the basics right. Wood was too slow and gave away the last goal.
Forde and Newell tormented the Dons defence second half, but we just couldn't create many clear-cut chances.
We should have been able to hold out for draw, but as is often the case, we didn't.

The Wimbledon performance was a bit of a throwback - quite physical and feigning injuries to take a breather when we looked like we were getting on top, but Taylor took his goals well

Good turnout from the Millers travelling fans

For several seasons on MM the gospel according to the diehards was that there was little posted when we won and loads (of negative stuff) when we lost. This was never true and nowadays it would be fair to suggest the opposite. "Still 4th", "No damage done", "Time to move on", "On to Saturday", "On to Oxford" etc, etc. A season of mediocrity will be followed by more seasons of mediocrity. There's no ambition left at the club and the supporters (on MM at least) seem to have rationalised this as our inevitable lot. A rudderless ship drifting aimlessly.
