    Labour leader union benefits

Interesting investigation into Ian Lavery new Labour Chairman finds he got payouts of over £160k from Union funds to pay for his house and for being made redundant when he left the post of general secretary of the NUM Northumberland Area.for his new job, so technically was never redundant.
He also went on several conferences abroad charging £40k on expense to the union in 2008
There is no mine in the area and membership of 240 in 2012 conveniently fell to 10 in 2013.

    The BBC report
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41688280

    The inspectors report
    https://www.gov.uk/government/upload..._215T-8-16.pdf

Mr Lavery refused to answer if he paid his mortgage off 9 Times.
With only 10 members why did they need a general secretary I wonder. The inspector could not do a full inspection as no member had complained.

They report this, however, it only just scratches the surface. The inspector's report gets closer to the facts of the matter, however, there is a lot more which could be added.
I am unwilling to divulge any further information.

    Oh supersub you tease!

He and his 10 members were sitting on a money tree. Probably there’s a forest out there. No wonder money is not a factor for Jeremy!

Go on tell us a ****y bit more.

At last! The Tories have found a union man pulling one of their tricks.

All I can say is, whether he is guilty of financial manipulation or not, it is shameful to leave yourself open to such accusations.

JC should now order a full, independent and transparent enquiry.

He has done nothing more nor less than a previous leader of the NUM who also screwed them for a large sum and continued to do so long after he left his position.
As for it being Tory tricks --surely TBT your are not so naive to think that it is only Tories who manipulate things.
As I have said, I know more than has been published, however, I shall just wait and see whether or not anything else is publicised. As for JC ordering an enquiry --in your dreams!

But the BBC found this out and they lean to the left.

I wait with bated breath for Jeremy to do anything as unions run the party and there will be similar abuse of union funds for parliamentary purposes - its Jeremy’s magic money tree after all.

Doing dodgy things crosses party lines.

If you start playing "holier than though" then you will end up looking stupid.

Every party has been caught with it's hands in the till.

    Just look at this list.

The Labour Party simply has to be about more than dirty corruption in dark rooms. JC had better get this one illuminated and quick!

We all realise that the union coffers are awash with huge amounts of money and I for one have always hated the idea of union bigwigs drawing substantially more wages and benefits than their members.

This is one of the reasons the grassroots members of the Labour Party are different from their Tory peers. We insist on full accountability of all central Labour Party funding but news likes this is very debilitating because as a socialist political party we simply have to be beyond nefarious financial gain.

I mentioned on a thread on here not long ago about Unions (especially Unite) Full of corruption just like any other corporation or Government for that matter, There may be many other Countries more corrupt but the UK is not far behind.

Quite old that but some major abusers of expenses which if done in business would result in dismissal. However the union money was given by members to protect their interests and jobs. It wasn’t given to buy houses for their leaders.
If there are no jobs why do some want to stay as members and why wasn’t money returned to members when there were 240.
Suppose it’s Jeremiah money pit rather than tree.
