Is it time for instant video replays on important game decisions?

It does seem that this is an inevitable outcome.

We would have got a penalty last week and have had one against us denied this week if video replay had been allowed.

Relegation, promotion, fans satisfaction and management careers often hang on consistent and good refereeing. Which is not what we are getting right now.

I have previously thought that one of the appeals of the game IS the human factor but we now have goal line technology so its increase appears inevitable.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

But....who would decide when it is used ?
I suspect that not many referees would admit to not being sure.

Every game is important from the Premier to the National league and below, but yes I've always said video evidence should be allowed like Cricket with 3 appeals during a game, if you are correct you keep your 3 appeals, I know it will stop any momentum of the game but don't players do this anyway with play acting and so on ?

IMO Referee's are too protected Map, not even allowed to air why they have made a decision, plus Managers/Players after the game are not allowed to air their own views on decisions as the FA say it will bring the game into disrepute which is not the problem, the FA ARE the problem as someone said on here a while ago.

Hope all is well with you in China Map

I'm OK, thanks Altobelli, although as always life is a little complicated regarding visa issues.
I now have to go to Hong Kong every 90 days to renew it.
However, my boss has agreed to pay for the flights, a 3 hour flight as opposed to 27 hours on the train

Silva has defended his dive saying he felt contact and claimed it hurt a little.

God help him if he ever runs across me, the smack in the jaw he will receive, will seriously hurt him a bit more than a little. Cheating little bar-steward.

Trial by video..I watch rugby league and it works to an extent but they still get it wrong after 6 or 7 replays..
Will be the same in football ,they will deliberate for ages and still come up with a wrong decision.. I suppose it's inevitable before long with the money that's at stake..

Even more officials to corrupt or drop a back hander to get the right decision for the big clubs..

I agree with the use of video, the stakes are too high now to just go on a whim when a ref is unsighted. I thought for it to be a penalty the referee has to have no doubt about it. I think the video however does Show Popes knee did contact Silva foot, and Sean accepted that, but the question for me Is that because Silva put it there deliberately - as Vardy has done many times- mostly successfully.
Not sure how that can be judged. Woods claim was obviously a penalty though.

Seems more like it goes the other way and refs in rugby refer far more than they need to do with the “any reason not to award the try” request.
It adds to the tension though, but the game has more natural pauses than soccer to help avoid disrupting the game. The ref there can also play advantage and let it run for 10 seconds or so and come back if there was none.
