First time to Barbados, loved it. It's the Caribbean so it is a bit rough and ready and rundown in places but the people are the friendliest, helpful and easy going bunch I have ever met. And I was not there as a tourist but working so I had the good fortune to meet a good cross section of people, all the same, wonderful. I liked it so much I might even pay to go back there myself!

And whoever recommended it was right, the local beer, Banks, is a cracker.

Cheers mate. We are we going to see some pics from your journeys, they are sorely missed believe me.

Amusing incident happened on the Wednesday after I arrived. Put on a new set of work clothes for the day, green polo shirt and a pair of green and khaki camaflage pants, got to site and went to the morning meeting. About eight people in there, walked in and I am not kidding you if there had been a jukebox playing it would have screeched to a halt. Of course they are to polite and shy to tell me straight away but eventually someone puts me right. Apparently it is illegal to wear camaflage gear unless you are in the armed forces. If you are a local they just strip them off you on the spot and belt you a couple of times with a night stick. As a visitor no one seemed to know what would have happened to me, most likely straight to the hotel and change and a fine or a back hander, or both.

So in the end I just drove back to the hotel very unobtrusively and got changed. Hey, that's what foriegn travel is all about, experiencing different cultures!

Thanks, hopefully there will be a motorcycle trip in May. That camo wear was in full swing in the 80s when I was a student. I may still have a few items from back then but no chance of me fitting into them.
