Over the years, I have been chastised on here several times for writing in Doric. I have reluctantly relented, and now only use a smatterin o' my native, Aiberdonian, sheepsh@ggin tongue.
So please understand, if the word 'ball' or balls' must be written in dialect form, I expect, this being an Aberdeen FC site, flying the flag of our team, our city, our shire, our people and all that is good about us .... and standing free, in defiance of all things Weegie, West Coast, and all the scummiest aspects of the Ugly Sisters, that colloquial forms of English words should at least our own!
Use of the English (European) word "ball" should surely appear here either as "ball", '"ba'", "ba", or "baa" ...as that represents the range of how we pronounce the word. And NOT "baw"
Ah mean ..... what does a sheep say? "baw"??? ... Aye, fine, lets aa sing "baw baw black sheep"
"Baw" is Weegie as f()ck ..... it dreeps o' Hun and reeks o' Hail Mary. We say "Fitba!" ... nae "futbaw" .... so .... stop it ye Masonic alterboy fiddlin plastic paddy River City w@nkin sheepsh@g denyin b@sturds!!
