McInnes will know that a major rebuild will be due next season.
    For sure. I'd say:

Considine, Reynold, Rooney: all past their best and no longer good enough (whether Conso ever was is a different argument). Need replacing.
O'Connor: lacks pace/engine to be a centre mid, consistency and nous to be a central defender. Should be cover at best.
Logan: form has dropped and doesn't look interested. Maybe fixable, maybe not.
McLean: gone by end of the season or possibly January.
Christie: off at the end of the season.
GMS; May; Arnesen; Tansey; Stewart; Maynard; Ball. New boys who looked decent acquisitions on paper but who all have to a greater or lesser extent disappointed. You'd hope at least a couple will come good, but who knows? Suspect we'll hold on to Stewart if he looks worth holding on to.
Various kids who may or may not be good enough at some point.

Basically the new guy would have Lewis, Shinnie, and possibly McKenna as the starting point of a new team. A kid or two might come through. Hopefully he can turn a couple or more of the new guys back to the form they were capable of earlier in their careers. Possibly Logan will start to look interested again.

It's damn near building a team from scratch on an SPL budget.

No matter who we appoint, I think we're in for a period of struggle. Nothing more fatal to a new manager than joining a club at the wrong point in the cycle, and I think that's where we are.

Additional problem is our often hyper-critical support will argue he inherited a team who'd finished runner up in three competitions and then had big money spent on it. The bar will be set pretty high, and the fans will be quick to turn.

If the Hun do the dirty on us and get away with it, that will also massively disenchant a section of our support. The feelgood factor of recent seasons will be gone like snow off a dyke.

Dinna be surprised if we're back to McGhee/Brown era gates in the near future.

Sensible choice. Milne must have offered something.

Apparently the club gave permission and Mcinnes turned them down.

Which probably works in his favour tbh, because if the club had just said no and he'd ended up staying we'd always be wondering if he did really want to go.

Will believe it when he comes out himself and says - "I'm not going to Rangers because I'm not interested in going to Rangers and never have been."

Whole thing has been and still is a ridiculous mess.

This could be a very amusing time. Lots of backtracking and lots of in-the-know people with egg all over their smug little faces.

Suck it up Boyd, McLaughlin, the weegia, all you huns who bragged about taking our manager and quite a few people on here, unfortunately.
